“I own all my means of production.. cancel what!?”
During my college years I spent so much time in New York and particularly on the campuses of The New School, FIT and NYU that people legit think I went to these schools and was living in New York. In reality, I was in school in Philly but on my weekends and “reading days” I would catch the Chinatown bus for $10 right up there hang out and build.
What has become obvious is all the creatives and thinkers I held space with during this time have been the true influencers and culture creators of the shifting Black cultural landscape. From Venus X, Melo, Jesse Boykins III, Jill from Lions Babe to Andre Singleton of the Very Black Project.. these are people I shared space with that have influenced the aesthetics and sounds of the likes of Beyonce, Solange, Rihanna and the growing popularity of AfroPunk.
It is here I met conceptual photographer, FIT professor and co-founder of “renegade record label” Binge Clique and fellow Leo boss lady Diane Wah.
I got a chance to sit down and talk with her about art, business, owning your stuff, next generation and life. Check it out below!

Diane Wah Zuecher is a conceptual photographer who's work has been widely exhibited internationally.
She received her MFA in Photography from Columbia University and completed her Undergraduate work at The New School University in Cultural Anthropology and Post-Colonial Literature.
She was also the recipient of the acclaimed Marie Walsh Sharpe Foundation Residency and is currently an artist with the Artist Pension Trust. She’s also included in notable collections such the Pizzutti Collection at the Columbus Museum of Art alongside notable artists such as Kara Walker, Derrick Adams and Simone Leigh.
Currently Diane serves as Co-Founder and Creative Director at BINGE, a renegade record label and art factory located in Ridgewood,NY.
She currently divides her time between her studio practice, freelance commercial photography as well as teaching and mentorship within her community.
