I first saw Derek Gaines on The Last OG, a truly underrated comedic masterpiece starring Tracy Morgan. Derek definitely stood out as a funny light hearted addition so when I saw he was coming to Baltimore’s newest comedy hotspot The Port I knew I wanted to come down. Realizing he was a stand up comedian, which he’s been doing for about 20 years, made me want to sit down with him and learn more about his journey navigating stand up, TV and now as an award winning writer.
We discussed that, his upbringing and how being a music school drop out has contributed to his art. I kind of wanted to ask him what he thought about his former roomate Pete Davidson penis size being speculated all of the media as well as him being threatened by Kanye West but this isn’t TMZ or VLAD.
Nonetheless it was a fun, informative and inspiring conversation and I appreciate him for sitting down with me!
